The Shingletown Library is pleased to announce the birth of our Adult Literacy Program. Launched in January of 2015, the program has seen its first client’s encouraging progress. We offer reading tutoring, including some necessities an adult reader may have, like completing applications or using a computer. The program provides an evaluation process implemented by a certified teacher, regularly scheduled tutoring sessions with qualified volunteers (some of whom are licensed teachers) and reading and practice materials in hard copy and on computer or iPad.
We create a personalized program for each student and continually evaluate and assess their progress. As an independent library, we are fortunate to have received information and guidance from Shasta County Libraries and Black Butte School District. Our goal is to provide the means for adults with a reading deficit to access the information they want and enable them to decipher it.
For more information or to schedule an appointment with Shingletown Library Adult Literacy Program, call the library at 474-1555 Tuesday through Saturday and leave your name and a phone number and our coordinator will contact you. Our services are free to the public.
